Premiere: The Obsessives graduate into emo stardom with “Camping” music video

Written by Joel Funk

The Obsessives are a band straight out of high school, but they’ve never let their age or the typical high school commitments keep them from making something of themselves. Their debut album, ‘Heck No, Nancy,’ was recorded on their spring break and they skipped out on Homecoming to tour. It only seems fitting that the music video for “Camping,” directed by Corrinne James, plays out like a graduation video. A montage of memories too recent to be nostalgic, but nevertheless evoking a strong emotional response. There’s something heart-wrenchingly beautiful about seeing memories of current youth being layered over the desperate and emotional lyric “Zooming out on Google Earth, I become even less significant” that is just bound to make your eyes well. You can watch the music video for “Camping” after the cut along with a list of upcoming tour dates that will see The Obsessives playing alongside Perspective, A Lovely Hand To Hold.
