Premiere: Backpacks paint a vivid picture of losing touch with a loved one with “Every Night”

Written by Joel Funk

Backpacks is a band that my good friend Chris of Hot Mulligan has been recommending to me since we started talking. A handful of demos left me looking for whatever he saw in the band, and left me in initial dismissal. Fast forward to about a month ago, and I was getting masters for what would become their new ‘Still Life’ EP.

This is an entirely new band that is sure to elicit the same feelings that listening to that first Turnover EP did, only with vocals that truly soar. You can pre-order ‘Still Life’ here before its November 6th release date. I’m excited to share what is easily my favorite song from the new EP, ‘Every Night.’

When I first heard the lyrics to ‘Every Night,’ I knew this song was going to be a special one. The imagery created in the first few lines of the song is haunting and phenomenal. You can listen to the track and read a statement fro Backpacks about the song below.

“Every night is about not knowing whether to let go of a person that you have so much hope built up in, or to continue striving towards them even if it’s unrealistic.  It’s a shame to waste a life chasing a fantasy, but it’s also a shame to waste an unconditional love by giving up prematurely.” – Austen Reno
