Sleepy Freak & Greg Mendez Split

Posted 3 months ago by Sal Fratto

November 25, 2017 marks the release date for the upcoming split EP between two pertinent bands from Philadelphia, Sleepy Freak and Greg Mendez. Both bands have made a name for themselves within the Philadelphia DIY music scene, and each artist performs all instruments on their respective tracks. Both are full bands, but this release features solo performances on both sides. Kate Lord of Sleepy Freak, attends college in Massachusetts; however, her passion for Sleepy Freak is evident, due to her incessant traveling between cities to record and perform. Likewise, Greg Mendez has traveled between New York and Philadelphia, and this release follows his most recent release, “¯ \ _ ( ツ ) _ / ¯,” under the same moniker.

Greg Mendez has most recently played Union Transfer on October 15, alongside Shannen Moser and Modern Baseball. On December 2nd, Greg Mendez will be playing the first date of the Philly Gets Alternative double header at Everybody Hits Philadelphia alongside bands such as Nervous Dater and Hodera, to name a few. He will also be performing at The Mercury Lounge in New York on November 24th, with Shannen Moser and Slaughter Beach, Dog. Sleepy Freak will be playing alongside Greg Mendez at the Split release show at Hole Foods in West Philly on November 25th, and will be touring the Northeastern United States with Elephant Jake in January (dates TBA). If you’re in the area, make sure to check it out!
