Premiere: Crystal Lake TX Get Atmospheric with “Retroactive”

Posted 1 year ago by Joel Funk

Crystal Lake TX owe a lot to Eli Shively. A lukewarm review of 2014’s Remission served as the spark that helped ignite the Crystal Lake TX of today. They’re gearing up for the release of a new three-song EP called Fake Emo Revival, which is due out on July 30th through Close Quarters Coalition. Whereas Remission was an exuberant record, full of the scene’s signature wailing vocals and twinkly guitars, Fake Emo Revival shows a band who’ve taken the time to experiment and grow in attempts to find a sound of their own. The track we’re debuting today is called “Retroactive” and it’s the perfect example of this growth. The music feels more driven and has a Magnolia vibe to it, which is matched with the atmospheric and faint vocals. You can stream “Retroactive” below.
